ASL Poetry: BULLY ASL

Download:
(2:15 minutes) Video hosted by videoserver.us

This is my first ASL poetry vlog; I have created this poetry for one month. Also, I did on purpose to produce a film in black and white as symbol of yin yang. The big picture is showed as being a deaf as Deafhood welcomes all deaf people to sign or not!

This video is recommend for people, who understand ASL. It is not necessary to have subtitles.

Enjoy this vlog!

Good am, sipping deaf coffee. Kiss fist it. Your SEE makes me LOL. Can see big contrast wow. Point’s taken.

  2. IamMine says:

I thought that was beautiful… I was kinda put off at first when you were signing SEE as if to mock those people but I knew you are not that kind of person. Then I saw the moral point of the story at the end.

It actually bought me tears. 🙁

Lately there have been a lot of frictions and it’s quite frustrating.

I’m just tired of this…but thank you for showing us such a beautiful poetry and that we CAN get along together and respect each other, learn from each other!

    Life’s too short.

    Thanks, Jon. You rock.

    Hey Jon,

I am speechless that you could use SEE and you did a great job. I recommend you continue signing SEE instead of ASL. Just kidding…Well, you did a good job on both signs. =-)

Oh I loved it! It is so touching! Your poetry is the deification of reality and the glory of life.. In fact, we cannot always build the future for our youth, but we can build our youth for the future. ( SEE, PTE, ASL, Oral, CUE, and others ) all accects 😉 are in a deafhood. Beautiful job!!

    Thumbs UP! 🙂

As an actor, you have a great potential! (of course, your creativity, too!)

  22. drmzz says:

Yes, Jon is good actor. Almost ask email autograph. 😉

Aidan, you’re a sweetheart. I like your passionate poetic JUSTICE vlogs. Also u share some films rather than other filmmakers who provide teasers or nothing instead.

  23. Beautiful job, Jon! Just a beaut! Beautiful…beautiful!

    Bowing before thee….

To sum this up – Im so thrilled that I’ve seen more and more of us are becoming better communicators by using digital technology into some kind of art form.

It is amazing to see how things are popping up!

Jon – keep up with your wonderful work, your creativity and most of all, your compassion.

    Hugs,
    Amy Cohen Efron

  24. Joseph Davis says:

Dig this concept.I love the ‘united’ sequence. Keep up the impressive work, Jon!

  25. michele says:

That was a good one you produced, Jon!

Once I was a SEE signer, I struggled to fit in the ASL community, it was hard and frustrating. So I could relate with this poetry that you made. It is not our fault that we learned SEE first, blame it on the system. We need to remind ourselves about this constantly when we meet other people who are not eloquently fluent in ASL and welcome them warmly and help them learn ASL.

  26. raychelle says:

    you rock, jon! 🙂

  27. Jac says:

Interesting to see between SEE and ASL, this video is good for all hearing people who learn about deaf culture, or ASL so it would help them to understand the difference between ASL & SEE. Good ones!

(By the way, your SEE is almost too PERFECT, also your facial expression with a bit tense while you sign SEE! LOL. Also Your ASL look so natural and relax! )

    Thumb-Up!

  28. Julie Rems-Smario says:

WOW ! So creatively expressed. You made a powerful point. Would you give me permission to share this vlog with others ??

  29. Jon Lenois,

That was really good piece of art you just posted. I really admired the contrast of your two characters and the backgrounds as well. Yinyang? Freaking creative. The end showed you got really great editing skills along with your acting skills as well.

I suggest you submit your work to film festivals, both hearing and deaf. Guaranteed, that video will get accepted in the deaf film festivals at least. Guaranteed. We need more deaf artists like you. Keep it up and continue to create amazing, touching clips like that. You got GREAT potential, for real. I hope to be working with you someday if you ever get into the film or acting fields 😉

    Jon

  30. DeafDixie says:

    WOW!!!! beautiful show….. Hands waving…..

  31. Hetty says:

    Hi!
Wow! Great job! I most definitely want to share your vlog with my ASL students, can I? Would like it to either become a class discussion or a part of their homeowrk.

    🙂
    Hetty

  32. Keebles says:

    Fantastic, Jon! 🙂

  33. dimsum says:

    BRAVO!!!

  34. Lee says:

Wow! This was the most beautiful SEE/ASL poetry I’ve ever seen!

I was once a SEE user during my elementary and junior high school years. I, then, became fluent in ASL through high school.

You’ve had brought our Deafhood closer and closer.

Jon… Keep on rocking our community AND please don’t stop! \m/

  35. Mark Maki says:

    Hello Jon,
this is my first comment to you but you did a good example to let us to know what is the difference SEE and ASL.

I agreed that we are unity and Deafhood!!!! I watch all Vlog and learn and improve my ASL help me alot!!

ASL is inspired to me that is true expression language!! Thank you for Attention!! smile!!

  36. Bug says:

Nice poem! You made the DEAF American way.

  37. Jon Savage says:

    Julie Rems-Smario & Hetty,

Yes, you can show to anyone as much you like to. I’m so curious what’s your purpose to show this vlog? Which school that you considering to share with.

  38. Barb DiGi says:

You rock by blasting my mind with your versions of SEE and ASL.

I certainly hope your vlog will make some deaf people realize not to reject those who use SEE or any other communication modes and be encouraged to learn ASL.

Like some of the commenters said before me, it was not their fault but the system causing them to be that way. ASL users just need to welcome them with open arms and show them their hands in a flying motion. Deafhood is the goal. Great vlog, Jon!

  39. Lauren says:

WOW!!!! *Hands Waving* I am an ASL major in college, and I’m hearing. I really loved it. YAY!!!!!!!! Keep up the good work!!!!

  40. Anne Marie says:

You make it very visibly striking! Only one thing, we welcome everyone WHO accepts signing whether this person can sign or not. That will leave us to say hmm, this guy needs to learn..hmm hey you want more drink?? Hee hee.

  41. Joe says:

ka ka ka ka KA-BOOM! BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM!!!!! World is shaking!!!!!

Hat’s off to you my friend! Well done! Love your work!

    Good job!

  42. Barinthus says:

Awesome clip! Just loved it 🙂

  43. Fred says:

A very nice poetic expression here!

I loved the quality of the vlog! Keep that UP! Maybe, (its my opinion) you don’t need to explain why you used this and that, maybe you may want to let your audience stay captive and “figure” things out as a more interesting topic provoking aspect? HUH? Just an idea.

I would love to use this to my ASL class as well along with others, can I?
Purpose: Let them see there are poetry given by Deaf and how that they are expressed in a medium format, artistically, and of course in living colors! I teach at two universities and a community college.

Keep those expressive hands moving …

  44. Jon Savage says:

    Response to Fred:

  45. Belle says:

Wow! I *kiss-fist* your poem. I must thank all those who taught me, either directly or indirectly, the beauty of ASL. Starting with Michael Westbrook (I know you know him!). 🙂

  46. SusanA says:

piognant… I enjoyed watching your poem… on the surface there are differences, but within there is deafhood where we all understand each other where we’re at.

    loved it!

  47. codadiva says:

    Hi Jon,
LOVED IT!! To me the white and black you wore was a great point! You did a great job!

I also agree to your response to Fred. Yes you have to keep your search engine optimazation (SEO) open. I’m now a fan and will look forward to more.
