    I feel ya, Lenois.

Only one thing: After debate with bank operator about VRS which is against their policy, give a try to tell the bank operator to speak authority to their boss / upper manager / executive manager for the issues about Deaf and VRS to amend their policy. It should help to gain the attention and solve the issue.

I know several people in Minnesota that have problems using VRS with Wells Fargo. As far as I know, they’ve left Wells Fargo and opened accounts with their local credit union. Why is NAD only suing east coast companies? We need NAD to step up and take Wells Fargo to court on behalf of West Coast and Midwest members.

There are actually several legal actions being taken against Wells Fargo for their discriminatory behavior against calls from deaf people.

I have the similiar experience from my local bank, Bank of America in Tucson, AZ, that refused to accept VRS call and told me to use TTY. I have a reference number from FCC after filing a complaint against BOA. Chase Bank already broke its violation against its policy that all types of relay services and Direct TTY are accepted. I filled the form about this situation with NAD and haven’t received a single response.

The NAD, with Advocacy Inc. in Texas, filed a lawsuit against Wells Fargo for refusing to accept relay calls.

Jon – be sure to share your experiences with the NAD; I’ve had the same problems in several situations. The NAD is collecting specific stories from people for their lawsuit – so definitely do e-mail them (Rosaline Crawford may be the contact person) and share your frustrations.

I’m in the process of switching to a different bank as well. So frustrating!

I have the same issue with Fidelity for my 401K and several other banks…I always hang up and redial..and request a male terp to match my name then tell the VI to NOT ANNOUNCE VRS and just talk fast…

They can’t tell the difference…they are a bunch of dumb *&%*#

    :-)

hey – NAD lawyer is looking for proof of that; please contact NAD lawyer and tell them of this Wells Fargo problem. Wells Fargo did this because they “THINK” this is IP Relay Service. They do not realize that fraud cannot happen with VRS because deaf person is calling. Wells Fargo is in violation of a federal law. So contact NAD lawyer and tell them about it.

WOW! I have been a long time Wells Fargo customer for about 24+ years (originally First Interstate Bank which was purchased by WFB). I know few credit card companies doesn’t accept relay calls which is difficult! Let us know how it goes, good luck!

I talked with a good friend of mine who is a VP at Wells Fargo. She mentioned to me that Wells Fargo changed their policy to allow for third party relay calls started on 12/31/09, and she said they started phasing the policy at their call centers in October of 2009. So, this has long since been resolved- if not post something and I will ask her again.
