Last weekend, I rode on Southwest Airlines back to home from Bay Area for Deafhood Monologues and couldn’t sleep then pull out Spirit magazine to kill some time. (GASP!) WHAT!!! Dr. Carolyn Stern in it! How many people would read THIS article in DEC?
Quotes:
“Upper-case-D Deaf refers to members of the Deaf community, a culture of non-hearing people who communicate visually, with sign language, as compared to your uncle the carpenter, who’s gone lower-case deaf because he didn’t use earplugs while working with power tools.”
“Because it’s hard in Deaf Culture to take notes while someone is signing, people who are Deaf often have better memory skills.”
